All importers and exporters are being encouraged to comply with
Canada’s import and export laws. Like the PIP program, participation
in PIC is voluntary.
The objectives of the PIC program are to increase customs compliance
by offering incentives to importers through preferential treatment
under the AMPS regime.
Importer’s who are PIC participants must have internal processes
supported by written policies and procedures that are conducive to
compliance with customs laws. Customs will periodically audit the PIC
participant and if non-compliance is detected the PIC participant will
be required to adjust its processes. Providing the PIC participant
complies with the mutually agreed to process adjustment,
AMPS will be
waived for HS Classification,
country of origin and
valuation errors.
ACTS provides a wide range of service offerings to importers who wish
to achieve compliance with customs laws and become PIC participants.
